Budget-friendly hotel in central Oslo with a Barception and rooftop terrace

Amenities & Facilities

The hotel offers a 24-hour gym with equipment for stamina and strength training. A rooftop terrace on the 9th floor provides city views and open-air seating. The lower ground floor houses a table tennis table, a shared kitchen with microwave and kettle, and a self-service laundromat with washing machine and dryer. Free filter coffee and water are available in the lobby.

Rooms & Accommodations

The hotel has 241 compact rooms with large flat-screen TVs and private bathrooms with underfloor heating. Rooms are cleaned every four days; extra towels or cleaning can be arranged at the Barception for a small fee. Each room includes a queen-size or two single beds, blackout curtains, and a hairdryer. No minibar or room service is provided.

Dining & Barception

The hotel replaces a traditional restaurant with a Barception - a combined bar and reception counter open 24/7. Guests can purchase paninis, yoghurt, smoothies, coffee, cinnamon buns, and snacks from the lobby shop. For breakfast, a selection of pre-made sandwiches, fruit, and hot drinks is available to buy. The hotel does not serve a buffet breakfast.

Location & Nearby Attractions

The hotel is located on Youngstorget in central Oslo, a 10-minute walk from Oslo Central Station. The National Gallery, Aker Brygge waterfront, and the main shopping street Karl Johans gate are within a 15-minute walk. The area is known for its nightlife and dining, with Rockefeller Music Hall and Sentrum Scene concert venues nearby. Construction work is ongoing in the surrounding streets.

Eco-Friendly Practices & Policies

The hotel reduces environmental impact by not washing towels and bedding daily. Guests use self-check-in kiosks, and room keys are required to lock doors from the outside. Luggage storage is available for a fee unless guests sign up for the hotel's loyalty program. The building has a lift, CCTV, and smoke alarms for safety.

“Comfort Hotel Xpress Youngstorget emphasizes Oslo's vibrant nightlife, placing you right in the heart of the action; modern, compact rooms are streamlined for budget-conscious stays, while the rooftop terrace offers compelling city views. The innovative barception and community lounge spaces foster a social atmosphere, though the rooms' minimalist design may not suit all tastes. convenient location and clean

convenient location longer stay

the location is very CONVENIENT. the room was big enough and had everything a person needs. I would definitely choose this place for a longer stay since it's very quiet and cozy.

there was a big pillar in our room making it difficult to move around the room. the room was also unclean with rubbish behind cabinets. We informed staff of this and they told us they would clean it whilst we were out. when we returned the room was still unclean.

Service

8/10

the hotel offers essential services that contribute to an overall positive experience, plus, staff were helpful. I noticed that the staff addressed issues quickly.

Facilities

9/10

the hotel features good facilities for both short and extended visits. I saw a trimrom with adequate machines. there were also washing machines needing to do laundry on-site, which i found convenient.

small room ongoing roadworks

location was okay, a short walk from the main train station, which, i guess, is something.

the room, oh boy, the room. its smallness was quite a surprise. i almost expected a clown car amount of space, its just nowhere to put anything, not even a suitcase. and the noise? some roadworks were happening. sleep? overrated.

I found the self-check-in process quite slow. It was not efficient. this lack of clear communication was inconvenient and added unnecessary stress to my arrival.
